East Fork Trailhead got some loving attention last month, but still needs a good spring painting to finish the job!

When: Saturday, April 13
Time: 9 am
Where: East Fork Trailhead

We will meet at 9am at East Fork Trailhead and continue re-painting all the pipes and cables (in TTPA-white). We’re about 1/3 of the way done, so the end is in sight. We’ll provide the paint, brushes, and rubber gloves, you provide the energy! Do wear old clothes, suitable to be spattered with white paint.

We’ll also make a stab at picking up trash along Skyline Drive from the trailhead, time permitting. See you there!

We’ll be having a Scavenger Hunt ride!

DATE: Saturday, April 20, 2013
TIME: Registration starts at 10am
LOCATION: Brockdale Park Trailhead

Duanna Hanners is planning a scavenger hunt with clues to find special items along the trail, north and south of Brockdale. Afterwards we’ll be providing a lunch from our Chuckwagon ($5 donation would be nice) at 1pm.

Call or text Duanna at 469-774-6773 if you plan on coming.

Remember to bring your current Coggins test results for each horse and a chair to sit on!

25 years ago, in 1988, Trinity Trail was opened to the public for the first time. At that time, the trail ran from the East Fork trailhead in Wylie to the Brockdale Park trailhead in Lucas. It wasn’t an easy process to gain the necessary permissions, easements, agreements, and physically clear the trail, but those early Trinity Trail pioneers got it done. This Anniversary party is our attempt to recognize those Pioneers of Trinity Trail and acknowledge their efforts on our behalf. A lot has happened since 1988 (TTPA was formed, the trail has been extended to 25+ miles, and a new trailhead has been opened, amongst other accomplishments), but this isn’t a celebration of what has happened since 1988, but what happened before then. Without the efforts of those Pioneers, we wouldn’t be where we are today with the Trail.

Who are those Pioneers? Please join us and meet them and applaud them.

The party will be held at the Surrey House and Gardens in McKinney, on March 1, 2013, starting at 630pm with a buffet dinner, followed by speeches and the awards to those Pioneers. Please vist the RSVP page (25th Anniversary RSVP) to let us know you are coming.

Remember to bring your current Coggins test results for each horse, a chair to sit on, and dress warmly, because it’s usually chilly in the evening, or is that chili ? !

If you are coming, please RSVP via email to Sharon Berryman so we know how much chili to make!

It’s Time for the Annual TTPA Holiday Party

Come join the fun with your friends and family at the annual Trinity Trail Preservation Association Holiday Party. The response to last year’s party at Outback Restaurant was so positive we have elected to have the party there again.

The party is an event for all of us who enjoy the trail so much to come together and get to know each other better. The TTPA will also be presenting awards to some of our dedicated members and local businesses who contributed so generously this past year. You will also be able to renew your membership at the party.

After the awards presentations and dinner, we’ll be doing our ever-popular Cowboy Gift Exchange, so make your plans accordingly.
